HISTORY

The original tuff gong label was founded in 1970 by Bob Marley, with the vision of producing, distributing and promoting his music free from the contraints of corporate label politics. In 2006, Ziggy fulfilled his father's dream with the founding of Tuff Gong Worldwide.

In a time decades before artist-owned record labels were commonplace, the legendary Bob Marley’s vision was characteristically well ahead of its time. Now, nearly a half-century later, his dream is being realized.

With Tuff Gong Worldwide, Ziggy Marley continues the dream of his father to own and manage not only his own music, but nearly every aspect of his career. From record label operations to book publishing, Ziggy not only records and releases all of his recent solo studio albums and DVDs via Tuff Gong Worldwide – including the Grammy-winning albums Love Is My Religion, Family Time, In Concert, Fly Rasta, and Ziggy Marley – but also has become a force in the publishing industry with the release of the Marijuanaman graphic novel, the Ziggy Marley & Family Cookbook, and a series of books for children. The company has also expanded into the world of film & television with Marley Africa Road Trip (Elixir Films) and most recently, as marketing partners on the world-renowned Bob Marley: One Love (Paramount Pictures) biopic. And beyond entertainment, Tuff Gong Worldwide has helped develop the Ziggy Marley Apawthecary line of organic and eco-friendly pet products, and apparel partnerships with Spiritual Gangster, UGG, John Varvatos, Johnston & Murphy, Appaman and others.

Making its mark on music, publishing, film, television, fashion, health & wellness, pet products and beyond, Tuff Gong Worldwide’s reach has indeed become a global phenomenon.
